The team will consist of four professional sailors and six core crew who will undertake the full circumnavigation. The six

  remaining places per leg will be filled by six different crew members on each separate leg. This will provide an opportunity

  for a total of forty two individual breast cancer survivors to participate in part or all of the circumnavigation. All the non-

  professional crew will be sought through the media and will be required to raise a nominal amount for the selected charities

  in order to participate.

  The team will be lead by Em Pontin supported by her husband Richard Falk. A professional skipper, Em was diagnosed with

  breast cancer in 2006. Over the past two and half years she has been forced to deal directly with this disease and all its

  subsequent treatments and challenges.

  Having returned from his own round the world race campaign just prior to her diagnosis, Richard has supported Em in her

  battle. Between them they have a wealth of experience in both sailing and breast cancer and are well placed to lead

  breastcancerroundtheworld.
